<DescrizioneEstesa>When it became known in May 1987 that the Bugatti marque had been acquired with a view to its relaunch, the automotive world was immediately abuzz with interest. Behind the initiative were two key figures: one was the automotive engineer Paolo Stanzani, creator of the most iconic Lamborghini models, who had already begun to design the engine and chassis of the new supercar even before the acquistion of the marque had been concluded; the other an entrepreneur with .a great passion for cars, who was a successful importer of japanese vehicles as well as a distributor for Ferrari. Stanzani, appointed sole director of Bugatti Automobili, soda started involving others in the project, among them Marcello Gandini, a car designer of international renown. A little later Dario Trucco, author of this book, was commissioned to take care of the development and construction of the bodywork of the car being designed by Gandini. With a modest investment, Stanzani thus succeeded in building the power tram, all the mechanics, the chassis and the first body. And then what happened? The story of what exactly occurred next has been the subject of numerous accounts, including that of the entrepreneur in one of his books. Many others have also expressed their opinions and a series of widely differing conjectures have emerged. How then to get to the bottom of this story of a thousand truths? The answer was simple: to talk to all those who in various capacities were directly involved in the project, collect their first-hand`testimonies' and bring these together to create a complete picture. This was precisely the ambition of the present book, which reports these testimonies in full - and its title could not have been other than: Bugatti, the true story of the EB110. Quando nel maggio 1987 si venne a sapere che il marchio Bugatti era stato acquisito per farlo rinascere, il mondo dell'automobile iniziò a fibrillare. I protagonisti di questa iniziativa erano due: l'ingegner Paolo Stanzani (padre delle più prestigiose automobili Lamborghini) che aveva già iniziato a progettare una nuova vettura ancora prima dell'acquisizione effettiva del marchio, e un imprenditore molto appassionato di autoveicoli, impegnato con successo nella loro importazione dal Giappone e nella distribuzione di vetture Ferrari. Paolo Stanzani, amministratore unico della Bugatti Automobili, attivò, tra gli altri, Marcello Gandini, designer di fama internazionale e subito dopo Dario Trucco, autore di questo libro, incaricandolo di fare quanto necessario per progettare e costruire la carrozzeria dell'auto che Gandini stesso stava disegnando. Con investimenti modesti l'ing. Stanzani riuscì a realizzare il motopropulsore, tutta la meccanica, il telaio e la prima carrozzeria. E poi cosa successe? Il seguito l'hanno raccontato in tanti, a partire dall'imprenditore con un suo libro. Anche altri ne parlarono, e le opinioni espresse da ciascuno non potevano essere le più diverse. Come si poteva superare questa "impasse", figlia di una trama dalle mille verità? Semplice: interpellare tutte le persone che, con qualunque ruolo, avevano partecipato al progetto, raccogliere le loro testimonianze riportandole integralmente, fino a confezionare questo libro, che non poteva intitolarsi diversamente: Bugatti, la vera storia della EB110.
